Don’t touch the wildlife! Florida man arrested for rubbing, picking-up, and mounting a manatee calf. Police were tipped off by one of Ryan Waterman’s so-called Facebook friends. Apparently Ryan Waterman snapped some photos of his kids and himself petting and harassing a little sea cow at Taylor Creek in St. Lucie County, and then posted on Facebook to share with family and friends. Unfortunately, one of his so-called Facebook friends saw the photos and then immediately called 911 to report the incident. Waterman was quickly apprehended and all the photos were confiscated as evidence.

Waterman violated the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act, which makes it illegal to injure, harm, harass, capture or attempt to capture a Florida manatee. This violation is considered a second-degree misdemeanor and he could be fined $500 or up to 60 days in jail.

“I’m really sorry for what I done. And I just tried havin’ a good time with my daughters and I really would never try to harm something like that, you know,” Waterman told reporters.

Fair enough.
